Description

These Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are a perfect blend of thinly sliced ribeye steak, sautéed onions and bell peppers, melted provolone cheese, and buttery seasoned slider buns. Quick to prepare and baked to perfection, they make a delicious appetizer or main dish for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 ½ pounds ribeye steak - thinly sliced (or shaved)
  • 1 yellow onion - thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper - thinly sliced

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or butter)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon dried parsley

Other Ingredients

  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 12 slider buns
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter - melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350℉ and lightly grease or spray the baking pan or dish you will be using.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: Thinly slice the ribeye steak, yellow onion, and green bell pepper.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak and season with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, then transfer the steak to a bowl and set aside.
  4. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced green bell pepper and onion. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and tender, then remove the skillet from heat.
  5. Prepare Buns: Slice the 12-pack slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the buns together as a unit for easy assembly.
  6. Assemble Sliders: Place the bottom halves of the slider buns on the greased baking sheet or dish. Layer the cooked steak evenly over the bottoms, followed by the sautéed onions and peppers. Place 8 slices of provolone cheese over the toppings, then cover with the top halves of the buns.
  7. Make Butter Mixture and Brush: Melt 4 tablespoons of salted butter and mix in 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and ½ tablespoon dried parsley. Brush this seasoned butter mixture generously over the tops of the slider buns.
  8. Bake Covered: Cover the assembled sliders with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  9. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking the sliders for an additional 10 minutes uncovered to allow the tops to brown slightly and cheese to melt thoroughly.
  10. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Store leftover sliders in an airtight container or resealable bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • To reheat, preheat the oven to 300℉ and bake the sliders for 15 minutes or until warm throughout. Alternatively, microwave for 30-60 seconds, but this may make the buns a bit soggy.
  • For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños or your favorite hot sauce during assembly.
  • If ribeye steak isn’t available, sirloin or flank steak thinly sliced can be good substitutes.
  • Using butter instead of olive oil when cooking the steak will give a richer flavor if desired.
  • Make sure to keep the buns intact when slicing horizontally to make assembly easier and maintain the sliders’ shape.
