Description

This Creamy Garlic Butter Salmon recipe features pan-seared salmon fillets in a luscious garlic butter sauce made with white wine, chicken broth, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese. It's a quick and elegant dish perfect for a satisfying dinner, finished with fresh parsley for a bright touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (5-8 oz. each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Sauce

  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the salmon: Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and pepper thoroughly to enhance the flavor.
  2. Pan-fry the salmon: Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a skillet. Add the salmon fillets and cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side depending on thickness. Drain some excess oil, leaving enough to sauté garlic.
  3. Add butter and baste salmon: Melt butter in the pan and tilt it towards you. Spoon the melted butter generously over the seared salmon fillets to keep them moist and flavorful.
  4. Remove salmon and sauté garlic: Take the salmon fillets out of the pan. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant for about 30 seconds without burning.
  5. Simmer with wine: (Optional) Pour in the white wine and simmer for 2 minutes until the wine reduces and evaporates, concentrating the flavor.
  6. Add broth and cream: Reduce heat to medium-low; pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring gently to combine.
  7. Add Parmesan and season: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted into the sauce. Season with chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.
  8. Thicken the sauce: Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
  9. Reheat salmon in sauce: Return salmon fillets to the pan, spoon sauce over them, and simmer for a few more minutes until the salmon is warmed through.
  10. Serve: Spoon the creamy garlic butter sauce over the salmon, garnish with additional parsley, and serve hot for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • Herbs – You can substitute fresh parsley with thyme or dill for different herbal notes.
  • Add more flavor – Sauté diced shallots or onions with the garlic, or season salmon with garlic and onion powder before searing for enhanced taste.
  • Zest it up – Add capers to the sauce or lemon slices while simmering, or drizzle lemon juice over the salmon just before serving for a fresh zing.
  • Add some heat – Include red pepper flakes in the sauce or on the salmon to add a spicy kick.
  • Spinach – Incorporate baby spinach into the cream sauce for extra texture and nutrition.
