Description

The Dirty Snowman is an indulgent adult hot chocolate recipe combining rich vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and dark creme de cacao liqueur, topped with whipped cream and chocolate garnishes. Perfect for a cozy and decadent treat with a kick of liquor.

Ingredients

Scale

Glass Preparation

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles

Drink

  • ½ cup vanilla ice cream (1 scoop)
  • ¼ cup Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

Garnish

  • Whipped cream
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Coarse sanding sugar
  • Additional chocolate syrup
  • Additional chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Place chocolate syrup on a small plate. Turn the glass upside down and dip the rim into the chocolate syrup to coat it evenly.
  2. Coat the Rim with Sprinkles: Dip the syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of chocolate sprinkles until it is fully coated for a decorative and flavorful edge.
  3. Add Ice Cream: Place one scoop (½ cup) of vanilla ice cream into the prepared glass or mug.
  4. Add Liquors: Pour ¼ cup of Kahlua and 1 tablespoon of dark creme de cacao liqueur over the ice cream.
  5. Pour Hot Chocolate: Gently pour 1 cup of hot chocolate over the ice cream and liquor, allowing the ice cream to melt slightly and blend.
  6. Top with Garnish: Add a generous dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle mini chocolate chips, coarse sanding sugar, additional chocolate syrup, and chocolate sprinkles as desired for a festive finish.

Notes

  • Prepare the drink just before serving to maintain the ice cream texture.
  • Hot chocolate and liquor amounts can be increased and premixed, but pour over individual ice cream scoops just before serving.
  • Feel free to experiment with different liquors like rum, coconut rum, Bailey’s, or chocolate vodka.
  • Replace vanilla ice cream with chocolate ice cream or a combination for different flavors.
  • This drink is quite rich; adjust alcohol levels to taste as the hot chocolate and ice cream balance stronger liquor well.
  • Use high-quality hot chocolate for the best flavor; a good homemade or store-bought mix works beautifully.
