Description

These Grinch Christmas Truffles are a festive and delicious holiday treat made with crushed Oreos, cream cheese, and coated in green-colored vanilla almond bark, decorated with red heart sprinkles. Perfect for holiday parties or gifting, they are easy to make and delightfully rich.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 36 regular Oreos
  • ½ cup whipped cream cheese spread
  • 12 ounces vanilla almond bark (half of a 24-ounce package)
  • Green gel food coloring (amount as desired)
  • 18 red heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor or blender and crush completely into crumbs, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Pour the Oreo crumbs into a large mixing bowl and stir in the whipped cream cheese spread until a thick and homogeneous mixture forms. Using clean hands can make the mixing easier.
  3. Form Balls: Scoop the mixture into balls using a 1 ½ tablespoon cookie scoop and roll them smooth by hand.
  4. Chill Balls: Place the Oreo balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour, or until firm.
  5. Melt Almond Bark: Place the vanilla almond bark in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute, then stir well. Continue microwaving in 15-30 second increments, stirring between each, until fully melted—about 2 minutes total. Avoid overheating to prevent seizing.
  6. Add Coloring: Stir green gel food coloring into the melted bark until you reach the desired shade. Do not use liquid food coloring to avoid seizing the coating.
  7. Coat Truffles: Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted green almond bark until fully covered, allowing excess coating to drip off, then place them back on the parchment paper.
  8. Decorate: Immediately place a red heart sprinkle onto each truffle while the coating is still soft.
  9. Set Coating: Return the coated truffles to the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour until the coating hardens completely.
  10. Serve: Serve the truffles cold or at room temperature as a festive holiday dessert or treat.

Notes

  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freeze well wrapped truffles in a freezer-safe container or bag for 3-4 months.
  • You can substitute your favorite Oreo cookie varieties if preferred.
  • If using regular cream cheese instead of whipped cream cheese spread, soften it to room temperature and use slightly less than ½ cup.
  • Decorate with any heart candies, sprinkles, holiday decorations, or leave plain.
  • Mixing Oreo crumbs and cream cheese is easier with clean hands rather than a spoon.
  • Do not use liquid food coloring with almond bark, as it will cause the coating to seize.
