Description

A refreshing Peach Iced Tea recipe featuring a homemade peach syrup made from fresh or frozen peaches, sweetened with sugar and honey, perfect for a cool and fruity beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (Do not thaw. If using fresh peaches, slice, freeze on parchment lined pan)
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Make the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, then remove from heat. Add the family size tea bag and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2 quart pitcher and set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, sugar, and honey. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add the pureed peaches and return mixture to a low boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a mesh sieve into a small bowl, pressing on the peaches to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the peach pulp.
  4. Combine Syrup and Tea: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea in the pitcher gradually, tasting as you go, until desired sweetness is reached. Generally, adding 1 to 2 cups of syrup to 4 cups of tea yields a pleasant sweetness.
  5. Serve: Divide the frozen peaches between 4 glasses. Add ice cubes, then pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice. Serve immediately.
  6. Storage: Store any unused peach syrup in the refrigerator for later use, and keep leftover tea refrigerated.

Notes

  • Using frozen peaches works well if fresh peaches are unavailable and adds convenience.
  • For fresh peaches used in serving, freezing them on a parchment lined pan prevents them from sticking together.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the tea by varying the amount of peach syrup added according to personal preference.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for best freshness.
