Description

These Snowman Oreo Balls are a delightful and festive dessert perfect for winter holidays. Made by combining crushed Oreos with cream cheese and covered in white chocolate, each treat is decorated with charming snowman faces and edible hats. Easy to make and sure to impress, they offer a sweet, creamy, and crunchy bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 45 Oreo cookies (about an 18 ounce Family Size package)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)

Coating and Decoration

  • 10 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers (divided)
  • 12 mini Oreos (split and cream removed)
  • 24 Rolos candies (dark chocolate)
  • Holly sprinkle mix (for hat decoration)
  • Snowman sprinkle mix (for face decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Make Oreo crumbs: Place the 45 Oreo cookies into a food processor or high-speed blender and pulse until they become fine crumbs.
  3. Mix cream cheese and crumbs: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer on high speed until smooth. Add the Oreo crumbs and mix on medium speed until fully combined.
  4. Form balls and chill: Using a medium cookie scoop, portion the mixture into evenly sized balls. Roll each ball in your palm to smooth it out. Place the balls onto the prepared baking tray and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  5. Prepare snowman hats: Melt about ¼ cup of the white chocolate melting wafers in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring between each. Split the 12 mini Oreos in half and scrape off the cream filling. Dab a little melted chocolate onto the top of an Oreo half using a skewer, immediately place a Rolo candy upside-down on top, and decorate with holly sprinkle mix. Repeat to make all hats and allow chocolate to harden.
  6. Melt remaining chocolate: Melt the rest of the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.
  7. Dip Oreo balls: Using a fork, dip each Oreo ball into the melted chocolate coating. Tap the fork gently on the side of the bowl to even out the coating. Place the coated ball back onto the baking tray.
  8. Decorate faces: Quickly add snowman sprinkle mix to each ball for the face, including two black sugar pearl sprinkles for eyes, a carrot sprinkle for the nose, and additional black sugar pearls for the smile before the coating sets.
  9. Add hats: Place the decorated hats on top of each snowman head. If the coating has set, add a small dab of melted chocolate before placing the hat and hold it to secure.
  10. Set and store: Allow the Oreo balls to set completely for about 15 minutes. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Any flavored Oreos can be used as a substitute for the classic Oreo cookies.
  • If Wilton’s Snowman Decorating Sprinkles are not available, substitute black sugar pearls or black icing gel for eyes and smile, and use orange sprinkles or orange Tic Tacs for the nose.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and smoother texture.
