Description

Hot Honey Salmon Bites are flavorful, bite-sized pieces of salmon seasoned with paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder, air fried to perfection and coated in a luscious sweet and spicy hot honey glaze. Ideal as a delicious appetizer or a main dish, these salmon bites are easy to prepare and come with optional oven instructions for those without an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Bites

  • 1 ½ pounds salmon, about 4 filets, skins removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Hot Honey Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¼ cup (85 g) hot honey, homemade or store-bought
  • parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 390°F to ensure it reaches the right temperature for cooking the salmon bites evenly.
  2. Season Salmon: In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Add the salmon cubes and toss gently to evenly coat each piece with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Air Fry Salmon: Arrange the salmon bites in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Depending on your air fryer's capacity, you may need to cook them in batches. Cook for 9-10 minutes, shaking the basket once halfway through cooking, until the salmon reaches an internal temperature between 140°F and 145°F and is cooked through.
  4. Prepare Hot Honey Glaze: While the salmon cooks, combine the unsalted butter and hot honey in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the butter melts and the mixture is warm. Turn off the heat once ready.
  5. Toss Salmon in Glaze: Add the cooked salmon bites to the warm hot honey glaze in the saucepan. Gently toss to coat all pieces thoroughly in the sweet and spicy sauce.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the glazed salmon bites to a serving dish, sprinkle chopped parsley over the top for freshness and color, and serve immediately as an appetizer or main course.

Notes

  • Oven Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place seasoned salmon cubes on the sheet, bake for 16 minutes flipping halfway through, or until salmon reaches 145°F internal temperature. Toss baked salmon in hot honey sauce and garnish with parsley before serving.
  • You can substitute hot honey with a mixture of honey and hot sauce if desired.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle sesame seeds over the salmon bites just before serving.
  • Ensure salmon is fresh and properly cut into uniform pieces for even cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature for safe consumption.
