Description

Valentine’s Oreo Truffles are a delightful and easy-to-make treat perfect for celebrating love and special occasions. Made with crushed golden Oreo cookies, creamy cream cheese, and coated in smooth vanilla candy coating, these bite-sized truffles are decorated with festive Valentine sprinkles. Ready in under an hour, they make an impressive and delicious dessert or gift.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 42 golden Oreo cookies
  • 6 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
  • 20 drops pink food coloring, divided

Coating and Decoration

  • 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
  • Favorite Valentine sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush Cookies: Place 42 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor or a sealed plastic bag and crush them finely using a rolling pin until you achieve a fine crumb consistency.
  2. Mix Base: Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a mixing bowl or leave them in the food processor. Add 6 ounces of softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until a uniform dough forms. If the mixture is too loose to roll, add more cookie crumbs.
  3. Form Balls: Using a small ice cream scoop, melon baller, or rounded teaspoon, scoop uniform amounts of the mixture and roll between your palms into firm 1 1/4 inch balls. Place each ball on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. You should get about 24 truffles. Freeze the balls while you prepare the coating.
  4. Melt Coating: Break the 16 ounces of vanilla candy coating into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth. This typically takes 1 to 2 minutes total.
  5. Coat Truffles: Using a fork or candy dipping tool, dip each chilled truffle into the melted vanilla coating, gently tapping the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove excess coating. Place coated truffles back on the parchment paper.
  6. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle your favorite Valentine sprinkles on the wet coating to decorate. Repeat until all truffles are coated and decorated.
  7. Set and Serve: Refrigerate the tray of coated truffles for at least 15 minutes to let the coating set completely. Serve the truffles at room temperature for optimal flavor and texture. Enjoy!

Notes

  • To crush Oreos without a food processor, place them in a Ziploc bag and gently crush with a rolling pin, including the filling.
  • Add extra cookie crumbs if the truffle mixture is too soft to roll properly.
  • Use a toothpick to remove excess melted coating from the underside of the fork before placing truffles on parchment for a neat finish.
  • Decorate with additional toppings such as cookie crumbs, crushed candy, or nuts before the coating sets for variety.
  • For a fun twist, drizzle melted contrasting chocolate over hardened coating for an elegant look.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
  • Truffles are best enjoyed cold but can be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours safely due to the cream cheese content.
