Ingredients
Scale
Fudge Base
- 12 ounces Velveeta, diced
- 1 cup salted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 8 cups powdered sugar (2 pounds)
Optional Add-ins
- 1 ½ cups pecans, chopped
Instructions
- Melt Velveeta and Butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, add the diced Velveeta and butter. Stir frequently until both are fully melted and combined to form a smooth mixture.
- Add Chocolate and Vanilla: Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips to the melted Velveeta and butter mixture. Stir constantly until the chocolate chips are completely melted and incorporated. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate Powdered Sugar: Lower the heat to the lowest setting. Gradually add the powdered sugar in increments, stirring well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and thick.
- Add Pecans: Turn off the heat and stir in the chopped pecans if using. Mix thoroughly to distribute them evenly throughout the fudge mixture.
- Set in Dish: Pour the fudge mixture into a prepared baking dish and spread it evenly using a spatula.
- Chill: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and allow the fudge to set for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- Serve: Once set, cut the fudge into 48 pieces and serve.
Notes
- For easier melting, dice Velveeta into small cubes before starting.
- If you prefer a nut-free fudge, omit the pecans or substitute with other mix-ins like chopped dried fruit.
- Use a non-stick spray or parchment paper on the baking dish for easier removal.
- Ensure the powdered sugar is sifted to avoid lumps in the fudge.
- Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
