Description

Velveeta Sausage Cheese Dip is a creamy, cheesy, and spicy dip made with hot pork sausage, Velveeta cheese, and Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies. Perfect for parties, game days, or casual snacking, this dip is easy to make using stovetop, slow cooker, or microwave methods.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound hot pork sausage roll
  • 16 ounces Velveeta Original Cheese, cubed
  • 1 (10 ounce) can Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies

Instructions

  1. Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the pork sausage, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula as it cooks. Drain the excess grease thoroughly.
  2. Melt Cheese and Combine Ingredients (Stovetop): Return the skillet with the browned sausage to medium heat. Add the cubed Velveeta cheese and the entire can of Rotel, including the liquid. Stir occasionally with a cooking spoon until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Alternative Slow Cooker Method: After browning and draining the sausage, add it along with cubed Velveeta and Rotel (with liquid) into a slow cooker. Stir to combine. Cook on low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally until the cheese has fully melted. Keep warm when serving.
  4. Alternative Microwave Method: After browning and draining the sausage, transfer sausage, Velveeta cubes, and Rotel (with liquid) to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on full power for 3 minutes. Stir, then continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until cheese is fully melted and smooth.

Notes

  • Storage: Cool leftover dip, transfer to an airtight container, and refrigerate. Use within 3-4 days.
  • Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, stirring occasionally to maintain creamy texture.
  • Use hot pork sausage for a spicy kick, or substitute with mild sausage if preferred.
  • For a thicker dip, reduce the liquid from the Rotel before adding.
  • This dip pairs well with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
